Whether you’re looking to work in India or live in India, getting an Indian visa can be tricky if you don’t know how to go about it. In addition to requiring you to meet certain visa requirements, the application process itself can also be arduous, depending on where you are in your home country. Step 1: Gather all Necessary Documents
The Indian visa application process can be a bit onerous and a good deal of information is required. Make sure you have all of your documents in order, including your passport, photographs, and supporting materials. You’ll need your passport, proof of education (for example, transcripts and diplomas), proof of employment (for example, pay stubs), proof of financial means (bank statements), and proof that you’re free to leave India when it ends (confirmation letter from employer). Step 2: Book Your Appointment with VFS Global
VFS is one of several private companies that handle application processing for Indian visas. Once you book your appointment, VFS will mail you a Visa Application Instruction Letter, which you’ll use to schedule a face-to-face interview at your local Indian consulate or embassy. The company recommends arriving 15 minutes early and bringing two passport photos with you; if possible, take along a letter from your employer stating that he/she will be sponsoring your visa, as well as proof of upcoming travel.
