To become eligible to apply for a Turkish visa online, you must be able to show that you are visiting Turkey for tourism or business purposes and that you have enough money to fund your trip and return ticket. The amount of money required will depend on the duration of your stay and whether or not you need to apply for other visas or travel documents. You can see the full requirements in this article about Turkish Visa Online Eligibility requirements, but don’t worry – it’s easier than it sounds! Don’t forget to bring your passport and your credit card with you when you go to the office!
What is an e-Visa?
An e-Visa is a travel authorization that allows you to apply, pay, and receive your visa online. If you’re traveling to Turkey as part of your business or job, an e-Visa is probably right for you. Keep in mind that because some Turkish visas are single entries and others are multiple entries, it’s best to find out whether yours allows multiple entries before choosing which one to apply for. You can read more about what’s included in an e-Visa on our FAQ page. And if you want to get started applying today, see our information on paying with MasterCard or American Express here.
How do I apply for an e-Visa?
An e-Visa is an electronic visa you can apply for and receive online. It’s valid for up to 180 days (six months) from your scheduled departure date, which means you don’t have to pick it up in person at a Turkish embassy or consulate; you’ll instead be able to print it out and take it with you. It costs $20, but because it’s electronic, payment is made through PayPal or by credit card on Visa’s website (meaning there are no paper checks). Note that your passport will need to be valid for at least six months after your trip ends. You also need one passport-sized photo in the digital format attached to your application.
What are the documents required?
An official document proving your legal status in the US. This can be your US passport or permanent residency card, etc. You also need to have a copy of your valid visa to enter Turkey if you are not from there. The applicants may be asked further questions, depending on their personal information. There is no age restriction but minors require signatures by their parents or guardians upon their applications. This can include family members and spouses as well, depending on how many people are going with you and how they are traveling together. If you plan to stay in Turkey longer than 90 days, then you will need documents proving that you’ll be able to support yourself while in-country.
What happens after my application?
After you’ve applied, you will be contacted within 3 days by our Turkish office to confirm receipt of your documents. You will then receive an additional email with your personal Visa Start code and instructions on how to begin your Turkish visa application process online. Your personal Visa Start code can only be used once, so if you apply multiple times, you will need to contact our office in order to receive another code. If we are unable to use your code after several attempts, we may have deleted it or it may have expired (which is why we always provide another). If that happens, simply re-apply using all of your original documents and we’ll generate a new personal Visa Start code and send it via email within 2 days. Turkish Visa US Citizens
Do I need to print my e-Visa?
No, it is not necessary to print your e-Visa. Simply show your smartphone with a digital copy of your e-Visa, or printed confirmation page, when you arrive at passport control. Remember to bring along all other documents requested by Turkish Customs. You will also need to show proof of onward travel and proof of sufficient funds for your trip in cash or traveler’s checks (no credit cards). Note that holding multiple entry visas does not mean you can remain in Turkey longer than 90 days on each visit.
